Picked up one in very good shape for $40, only thing not working seems to be power on/off light. Can a person fix this on their own easily? As well a Heathkit Ar-15 with wood case in new condition but very, very low Fm output and High Temp indicator stays on but unit stays fairly cool even after being on for several hours, everything else seems to work.....Rick:scratch2:

Lamp is an 8v 50mA leaded bulb 4mm in dia.

Should be glued into the front panel escutcheon from the rear.

It is run off of 40+v AC with a 620 ohm 2 watt series dropping resistor. That means if you significantly lower the lamp current - you could have problems (short life) - but it also means that an 8v or 12v 50ma (70mA) lamp will work just fine....

A LED conversion will need about 2.2k ohms additional series resistance with an additional 1n4004 diode in series with the led. A 5mm ( T 1 & 3/4) LED will need the rim filed off to fit.
