SA-8500 question

Hello all. I've been picking up used gear at junk shops, pawn shops and goodwill for the past few years. It's amazing how much of it is Pioneer...
I recently found a SA-8500 integrated amp for $20. It was filthy on the outside but very clean under the hood. I hit it with de-Oxit, cleaned the outside and hooked it up. It sounds good, all controls work as they should. The power lamp doesn't work, but that doesn't bother me. It only has one odd thing: when I turn the volume all the way down, I can still hear music playing very low. I tried a few different sources; my iPod, a cd player and a tuner. It is audible through speakers and through the headphones. It's not very loud and if it bothered me, I could just turn off the source or turn the amp input to an unused setting. My only questions: any ideas what could be causing this and can it harm the amp or speakers? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
