SA-9800 hook up to SPEC 2

Hi all. Thinking about purchasing a Spec 2 or Spec 4 to power my HPM-1500's. These speakers
have a rated input of 125W and Maximum input of 250W at 6.3 ohms.

SA-9800 is rated at 100W at 8 ohms with speakers A + B and 120W at 4 ohms with speaker A or B.

Was using my SA-9800 to power A set of HPM-100's and HPM-1500's at 100W and 8 ohms.
Sounds awesome but I feel the 1500's are not getting the power they deserve and I could be
damaging them with this amp. The 1500's have rated input of 125W with 6.3 ohms.
Have stopped using them.

Is it possible to use the SA-9800 as the pre to run a SPEC 2 / SPEC4 power amp?
Want to Use the HPM-100's with SA-9800 using it's TAPE 2 REC out's into SPEC INPUTS.
HPM-1500's into SPEC Speaker out.

Would this work? I have only ever owned integrated amps.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

It should work as the SA-9800 has the pre out, main in jumpers. Just use the "Pre out" jacks to the Spec.
I like the Spec 2 (Output preference) but the 4 is certainly capable of driving your speakers.
 
Cheers zebulon1. I think the Spec 2 is the better option as well. If i use the SA-9800 "Pre-out" into the SPEC, I won't be able to use the HPM-100's through SA-9800. I want to run both set of speakers.

I have a 2nd SA-9800 amp (will have to be sold to finance SPEC)
Sometimes use both at once to run additional speakers by using TAPE REC OUT jacks on 1st to AUX input jacks on 2nd SA-9800.

Need to know if this same configuration will work with Spec through it's input jacks.working as 2nd amp powering the 1500"s.

If i had the cash i would buy a SPEC 1 and 2 setup.

You wont be able to control volume on TAPE REC on 9800.
 
Thanks for the input merkan. When i hook up the two 9800's together using Tape Rec Oot jacks on 1st to AUX input on 2nd have full volume control with each. The Spec has left and right input level controls. Would't this act as a form of volume control from the source signal bring the 9800?

so in your 2 SA-9800 setup, when change volume on first, does it change on second also?
Mine volume does not change anything on the rec out, so I wrote previous post.
 
Yes Merkan. The 1st does not change the 2nd. They act independently.
Have come to the conclusion that the only way I can accomplish this
is to get a spec 1 & 2 for the price of one lol. Or use the "Pre out" 9800 jacks to
the Spec 2, as zebulon1 suggested earlier.

The Spec input level controls must only act as an attenuater. This will mean I can
only run the HPM 1500's through this. There may be some sort of high
quality pre-out splitter available. Don't trust splitters. Am no expert, Here to Learn.
