If I am correctly reading the model number as SR-40 on the Stax headphones, they are electret (as opposed to electrostatic) phones produced in 1975. I presume an adapter box is needed; look for it if you go! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Stax_products

The SR4A is a fine sounding receiver. One of the best from the '80's, IMO.

I think the receiver is from the TA series. Either way, very nice sounding. Just make sure you turn the volume down on this one before turning it on.

I am pretty sure when ADS switched their logo to a/d/s after teh 1590s, they are most likely M9s or something.

You might be right. Hard to tell with those columns and I didn't consider the M-series.

I don't think those are tall enough to be 1590's - should be a longer gap between the bottom of the grill and the floor. And, I think the distance between the lower grill pins to the middle pins and from middle to top looks wrong for the 1590 too. Those have a longer stretch on the bottom due to having to bridge two larger woofers, shorter on the top because they only bridge the mid/tweeter pair.

I'm more digging the Triumph bike, anyway!

I'm glad there was something to look at in that offering. I wasn't convinced they were 1590s, but they didn't match any other xx90s so I guesses.
