and anything Tomas Luis Vittoria (Victoria), Palestrina, and Thomas Tallis
-and that's just today....
No sacred music collection would be complete without the Mozart Requiem.That's #1, essential.
The Mendelssohn Oratorio Elijah is another premier example.And of course, Gregorian Chant.

What fd said -
You got all the 20th Century cats like Igor Stravinsky and Ralph Vaughan Williams too.
But you can't go wrong with the Roger Wagner Chorale or the Robert Shaw Chorale
sacred and Christmas albums.
Gospel is a whole 'nother world of music: Staples Singers, Swan Silvertones, Soul Stirrers,Mighty Clouds of Joy, Rance Allen Group, 5 Blind Boys,Bebe & Cece Winans to name but a few. Whew!
