SAE amp / preamp

Now that is crazy. I’m surprised the cap didn’t fail / blow.
I’m hoping to get this 2200 & 2922 up and running this weekend. Maybe even that 2400L from the other thread too. Misplaced the new relays somewhere to boot too.

After further inspection it wasn't as bad as I originally thought. So far I've seen three versions on how the Zener filtering is done. 1st is a 100uf capacitor in parallel with the Zener and is floating, no ground. 2nd version is 100uf capacitor tied to the cathode of the Zener and ground, 25V capacitor is OK here with 25.5V across it. And lastly the electrolytic was replaced with a floating .01uf film. This board is the second version.

I’ve got a revision C and D board. Only thing I noticed was the silk screening changed from parts / values to numbers like CR1, CR2 for the parts. I didn’t follow the traces around but both boards have the same parts and layout. I wonder if the changes were in line with changing from the standard transformer to the toroidal one.

This is a "C" board. I don't see a revision on my personal 2200 but it has a film cap across the Zener.

I'm waiting on a couple of parts and I should be able to get the 2200 and 2922 back together. I made a really dumb mistake and installed 10UF caps instead of 100UF caps, I can't believe I did that.

Both amp boards done except the diff drivers. On this 2922 the boards in the preamp are like crooked, not 90 deg angle and it looks like something is wrong. I have to look at this better since someone had been in it replacing all sorts of stuff prior.

Hey I have a 2200 as well but channel b is clean canal a is shorted I took it to a repair shop still doesn't work can you help me with this?

Here’s a couple pics of a modded 2200. Looks like a fan connector coming out of the top in back. The added switch in front might be to control that. Who knows.
