SAE or BRYSTON

Thinking of another purchase to upgrade my Hafler DH200 , The Bryston 3B same output but also can be used as a 400 watt mono or a SAE2400L at 200 a channel which is twice the power and also half the price of the Bryston 3B at a asking price at $380 what do you guys think ? I'm leaning more to the Bryston Thanks

Go with the Bryston gear. Great stuff _and_ the company is still in business, too.

Cheers,

David

Well, sorry I missed the question. But, just in case you find yourself in this position again, I'll share with you my opinion on these two. I personally love SAE gear, mostly for the looks. Of all the companies out there, this is the only one I intentionally collect. A few years ago, I had the opportunity to compare an SAE 2401 (250WPC) to a Bryston 4B (250WPC). Long story short, there is no sonic comparison between the two. The Bryston was superior in just about all audio aspects.

Of the four amps I use in my main system's front channels, three are now Bryston and none are SAE.

Bryston stands by their 20 warranty even if you're not the original owner. Very rugged stuff. I've always wanted a Bryston amp, but have been too cheap. But the day is getting closer.

Bryston makes very honest, very clear sounding SS gear. You really cannot do much better than Bryston.
Keep in mind that Bryston amps have gone through very many different stages. They really started sounding good with the NRB series. The earlier (silver handled) series were more average sounding. Nice thing is that Bryston offers upgrades for the earlier series to make them sound closer to the newer ones.

Why did I wait so long , that amp was on craigs list for about 2weeks , go figure the day before I pick it up Gets sold. OH WELL for hhure I'll be hunting up another . Thanks all
