Sale listings painful to see.

Hey. I think most of us that shop the local sales regularly have a few listings they've seen a little too late that were so wrong we can even feel bad for the seller. Happened to me today and I wanted to share. I don't imagine having had a shot at it, being already "sold" and posted 10 hours before I saw it today. It's just that the price was SOOOOO wrong I had to mention it to someone. Anyway, here it is.



A Marantz model 7 tube preamplifier, listed as "Marantz Stereo Console". How much? Well it's missing the center switch covers and even though he was told it was working, he couldn't get it to work... so $30! <sound of me weeping>

I wanted to post in either Marantz or tube audio section (hadn't decided), but wasn't sure with a price included... even though it's already sold and a ridiculous price to boot. So played it safe and here it is in D&S. Enjoy.

Maybe post your own most memorable sale that was close to bringing you to tears...? Not just a good deal at 1/2 price or even a steal at 1/10 the value. Just any real heart stoppers, like this one at maybe 1/100 of the value.

You could have posted elsewhere as no value question and no link. You can state prices all day long but not for value comments. Folks run and hide here when they buy something because they want to state the price. If the just say and not ask if it was a deal that thread would be better in the correct forum for the item. Just so you know for next time.

There are too many Free and very low priced purchases over the years here to list, we all have a few. Some will be along and post soon enough.

The trouble is with threads like this, is they remind you of bargains you just missed out on, by a few minutes.

The guy carrying out a pair of Century L100s from a yard sale as you pull up with a $5 ticket on them or the the TOTL (CR-3020) Yamaha receiver you missed out on for $145 because you had a cup of coffee before reading the for-sale classifieds a 6am on a Saturday morning paper, instead of reading them as soon as you get the paper...

All fun in the end, we've all scored more bargains than we've missed out on.

PS I still have the newspaper ad for the CR-3020 after 16 years to remind me how stupid I was. I only saw it the other day when going through a box of papers and muttered to myself rude things.
