I just realized that I have the original and three different covers of this song by well-known artists. Which one do you like the best? I have my pick, but would like to know what you think.

Original Sammy Johns

Eric Church

Sammy Kershaw

Waylon Jennings

All opinions welcome, but please include the why?

The original on GRC Records by Sammy Johns is best. Recorded at the Sound Pit in Atlanta, GA by Milan Bogdan. Mastered by Mack Emerman at Masterfonics in Nashville, TN. I played this on a cassette in my first Chevy Van, a 1993 Astro (my college minivan). My original GRC Records 45 RPM single gets lots of action (I own 3 or 4 original 45 singles of this).

Indeed. The original takes me back to the old days, dirt road small towns in the South, the innocence of yore. Simpler, less stressful, less worrisome times. That old Sammy Johns 45 is a reminder of me as a young, Southern DJ, (the shortest and youngest jock at an AM directional station, the one who comboed, who had a first phone on the wall, who got to tell young men 10, 20 and more years what to do, and who had to be respected as operationally their senior). I still have fond memories when this 45 single gets cued up.
