Sandui 5000X with QS-800 - some distortion in left rear

Hi folks. Hope to get some advice on my problem. I've switched cables as much as room behind the cabinet would allow and I think I have isolated the left rear channel (coming from QS-800) as having some distortion and lower volume. This is true whether source is tape (AKAI-GX370D), turn table (Dual 1219), or CD player. When all four speakers are on, the distortion is barely noticeable, but when that left rear is on by itself, it's definitely there. Also, when I disconnect the right rear speaker at the QS-800, the distortion gets somewhat less noticeable. Any ideas on how I might be able to diagnose and fix this problem? Thanks.

First thing I'd do is put the amp in four channel mode, plug a source in the rear channel inputs and see if the distortion is still there. Would eliminate all the decoding /synthesizing circuitry. If still not right that rear channel driver/output amp has a problem. Might compare voltage readings at various points in that part of the unit if the problem seems to be there. Look for something different in the bad channel compared to the good one. Then it gets more complicated.
