Hey Canuck, I had an st-70 going through CV D3s. It sounded pretty good, but sounded much much better after I did the "loudness mod" found here http://home.netcarrier.com/~rstevens/st-40.html and retubed and rebiased and reset the hum. It is an easy unit to work on. I think it sounded just a touch better than both of my fisher 400s.
