Sansui 2000- Feedback on mods

Guy on CL has this for sale for $250. Not sure about the "under chassis" repair. Is this Kosher?

"For sale is a Sansui 2000 stereo receiver that has been serviced having all of the noisy 2sc458 transistors replaced with modern ksc1845, an upgraded power supply with larger capacitors and new diodes, and a complete recap using all new high quality electrolytic capacitors. The original output capacitors were left in place with new ones mounted under the chassis".

Thanks for your info.

Sounds pretty OK to me.. Would kind of depend on what was used as a output cap. Going to move this to the Sansui forum where it will get more attention. The tuner forum is for the radio section of your receiver.

The output's could have been stuffed with the new ones to clean up the "under chassis" or just put underneath, leavingthe originals for looks. Other than that, sounds ok.

I would prefer to see a picture of the output caps before buying. This is because the output coupling caps should be physically large if appropriate values are used and I am wondering if there is enough space underneath for such large caps. And if there is, I would still like to see it is done in a safe/sound manner. Otherwise sounds good.

I really want a Sansui but my spider sense is tingling on this one. Probably need to talk to the guy and ask why he did it that way. Thanks for your input. Greatly appreciated.
