Sansui 2000 Receiver Turntable Connection Ground

I was given a Sansui 2000 receiver that’s currently being repaired. I noticed that the ground terminal is on the opposite side of the back panel from the RCA jacks. The manual was no help in determining where to connect the turntable ground wire. Can someone help/explain?

You could most likely use one of the rear panel chassis screws like the one at lower left or solder or crimp on an extension wire to your existing ground lead from the TT.
You could confirm visually or with an ohmeter to chassis ground that they are electrically the same by both giving zero or very low ohms to chassis ground.

Black chassis screw below the TAPE Head Jacks is the one I use for Turntables on my 2000,2000a, 2000x. You can also use the GND knob on the right side.

add a length of wire to your phono ground wire and use the ground screw

Can I connect the ground wire from the sansui 2000a amp. directly to the ground wire on the wall outlet..to be more precise, I replace the 2-pole wire with a 3-pole American wire into the 3-pole outlet.

If you do change to the three prong power cord make sure you terminate the green earth ground to the ground lug on the inside rear bulkhead. Sansui has a diagram in the owner/service manuals showing the ground lug going directly to earth ground. The three prong power cord ground going to the chassis ground lug is the same thing as the OM/SM schematic.

thank you. i did it. with some edits. now my amp has no background noise. and no need to change transistors because the noise from the ground line is shared.
