Sansui 2000

Theophilus Punoval

The Queen says it's OK...
I can't find much - any! - information about the Sansui 2000. This isn't the 2000X. The 2000 may date from the late 60s.

Does anyone know about this model? Is it good, bad or indifferent? I have one and was wondering if it was worth re-capping etc.

Thanks.

It’s a very nice receiver that sounds much more powerful than its ratings. I’ve had two of them and one 2000X. I liked all of them, but prefer the 2000X. The X also has pre-out and amp-in. The 2000 doesn’t.

I would buy another one that came my way. Definitely you will either love it, or not. Can't imagine you not loving it.

I have one and use it in the basement. All around good receiver and sounds quite a bit better than the specs would indicate. No voodoo electronics in it either, which is nice if repairs or updating is needed. Seems to be somewhat rare too?

I have one here that l restored, definitely worth it, they sound great. Nice early separate AM/FM front ends also. I have to agree with ivandezande again in relation to the boards not being the easiest to remove components on.
