Sansui 2000a Dead left channel

No sound from left channel yet. I did an adjustment on the bias to now 10 mA was around 60 mA. And adjusted collector voltages to equal half of the outer transistors.

Yes first do that and still if there is no sound then you need to check the other voltages on amp board transistors.

So...new discovery. While cleaning the switch left it on A + B selector and both channels worked. When I put it back to just B left was dead again. Also there is a snapping that seems to come from inside the unit. Not sure if there is arcing or...

Also, check the connection between the speaker switch and the coupling capacitor in left channel (either C821 or C822).

You have to look eBay for used ones sold as parts. I don't know if it is possible to buy a new one! Cleaning didn't help?

To be sure that this is the source of your problem, I would suggest to feed a 1kHz signal directly to the left main in and check the ac voltage with your DMM at the negative leg of the coupling capacitor in the left channel. If you see an AC voltage and it increases with the increasing volume of the phone then the connection between the speaker switch and the coupling capacitor or the switch itself is at fault.

It’s kinda hard to see in that picture but the one contact strip came off the center that turns it. The plastic nubs that hold it on are missing. I’m assuming this is what was causing the missing channel. Maybe I can put some epoxy on it to hold it on. Until a spare part shows itself

Another easy way to check whether are you getting sound through headphone in both channel

I have an old iPhone with a headphone jack. But having trouble finding an app until I update that old phone. I think I might order that switch. Thanks so much for finding it! As far as the part numbers...Sansui didn’t make it easy to find them did they?! Once again, I can’t thank you enough for your help!
