Sansui 2000A weird speaker switch problem

troublehorse

I have a Sansui 2000A that works perfectly when the speaker switch is at A+B, whether or not speakers are in A or B outputs.

When the speakers are in A and the switch is set to A, the right channel typically doesn't work, I can get it to work if I over-rotate the switch by a tiny amount (but it won't latch like that), cleaning it didn't help.

When speakers are in A but the switch is set to B, I can hear a distorted sound in the RIGHT channel.

Speakers in B and switch set to B both channels work, but the right channel sounds slightly off.

Here's the thing, when the switch is set to either A or B by themselves, the right channels IMMEDIATELY gets HOT as heck. I can watch the two power transistors resistors for that side start instantly glowing through my thermal imaging camera.

My questions.. Anyone ever heard of something like this? Is the switch typical repairable mechanically?

My other burning question is... would a break in contact on the switch be enough to cause a channel to go haywire? Wouldn't that be the same as having no speakers plugged in? Surely there has to be something else going on besides just the switch no making contact?
