Sansui 2000x Receiver...poor output

Need some advice,
Just picked up a Sansui 2000x recently. The left output now is very weak. I cleaned the pots and speaker terminals etc. Still have the same problem. Does anyone have an idea what my next step should be? I'm pretty good at DIY,I can solder, etc. but I don't own or have access to electronics meters etc. I would have to buy one.
Also......I've tried switching speakers from left to right and A and B. The problem is evident in tuner, phono, etc. I think I've narrowed it down to left output.
Any help would be appreciated!

Next step would be to remove the pre/main jumpers on the back, and use a patch cable to connect right out to left in, and left out to right in.

If the problem remains in the left channel, the amp section is to blame.
If the problem moves to the right channel, the preamp section is at fault.

Then we go from there.

Thanks Rob. I hope to check that tonight. Are the jumpers secured from inside or do they just pull out ?
 
If the problem remains in the same channel after swinging the balance control in mono & getting the same response with the stereo reverse switch, the pwr amp section of the receiver needs servicing. Depending how handy you are, there is a lot of good advice available here. Tho I can troubleshoot, repair is beyond my purview.
 
Well, After dioxit and re-checking the speaker fuses, it turns out that one of the output fuses was faulty. The stereo is working fine now. Previously, I had switched the fuses from left to right with no problem resolution. I wonder if there was some corrosion within the fuse holder?

Could be. If it happens again, try replacing the fuses. I have had them look good but test bad.

Thanks Rob, That's true! the fuse looked good but it tested bad. BTW, I could not find specs on the required fuse rating. I am using 250V and 2&1/2 Amp. Do you think those are sufficient? The unit is rated at 39 Watts per channel
 
2.5a Quick acting fuse is what the schematic calls for, for the output's. The Main fuse is a 3.0A.
