Sansui 2000x the volume knob does not turn the volume down completely

Hello, two days ago I got a Sansui 2000x in perfect condition, inside also. I haven't opened it yet, but I know this because I got pictures of the inside from the seller before I bought it.
Everything about it is great and works very well and the sound is extremely captivating.
But while admiring it, I noticed that the volume knob turned all the way down does not reduce the volume completely and the music still sounds slightly - whether from the radio, or from the CD, or from the turntable.
I decided to took the knob out and turned the volume control to zero, but the sound still didn't turn down completely.
Has anyone had a similar problem?
Is it something serious?
Everything else looks perfect and I'll be sorry if I ended up with a problematic receiver.
I could still listen to it without worries, if I am sure that it is not a serious problem or if it will not lead to a serious problem.

This is a common minor issue with this era of Sansui receivers. It will not affect the receiver or cause any problems long term. You can search this forum and find many threads regarding this issue and some possible solutions.

The simplest thing to try would be a pot cleaning- grab some Deoxit D5 and look up some tutorials!

Always f/u D5 solvent treatment with a bit of lubricant like Fader lube F5 or F100. Deoxit Fader Grease or CRC-2-26 are also good lubricants for carbon tracks.
