I can pick up a Sansui 3300 for free, and it appears intact, save that every. single. knob. is. missing! Which is obviously infuriating. I have read a thread or two on here suggesting that the tone control inner and outer knobs use set screws (and the rest are standard knurled shafts). This surprises me very much since the 3300 that I have looked at very clearly has knurled shafts on the tone controls for both inner and outer. No set-screws at all. Did this model, perhaps, have two production runs? I VERY much like the way this model looks (both the 3300 and the 5500) - it's the perfect combination of size, green dials, push-buttons and large buttery wooden cabinet. They are more attractive than the 5000 series, and go knocking on the door of the six, seven and eight series. But I need a whole knob suite. As far as I can tell this unit uses the same knobs at the QRX-3000. I actually have one of these, and am seriously considering picking up another one JUST for the knobs since the units themselves are less dear than the 3300 is. Does anybody have both the 3300 and the QRX-3000 and can confirm (or not) that these units use the same knobs?
