Sansui 45 rpm adapter

[2ndGenSansui]

I recently picked up a Technics SL-1700 mk2 turntable, and got this nifty Sansui 45 adapter along with it.

I've never seen this variation of the Sansui logo before, but AKer RossW posted a picture of the same one on a pair of Sansui moving coil transformers.

Does anyone have a clue of when this was made or what turntable it could have come with?

For reference, here is another picture showing the same Sansui Logo. Is this earlier or later than the 70's?

That logo is very old. Long before 70´s

Thanks for the info!

Looking at the adapter again, the material seems to be a lot older than I thought it was.

It's made of some kind of plastic, but there are no seams anywhere on it, it's heavy, and the bottom edges seem to have been hand-filed. I'm not an expert, but it seems like it could be bakelite.

Did Sansui even make turntables in the 50's & 60's? I'm now wondering if this could have come off some Japan-only hardware. :scratch2:

Sansui made all sorts of electronic stuff before going in on audio equipment.

I think I have seen some speaker grille badges with that design on them on ebay.

I have some mid 1950's Sansui Tube gear that shows that Logo. Make sure you send Bluesky a picture of that adapter for his Sansui Book. I would also add it into his Sansui Accessory post. Later
