Sansui 5000x 'popping'

Hi Sansui Experts,
I recently took it upon myself to buy yet another receiver, and another Sansui, the 5000x.
First impressions were "wow, this is my new favourite receiver"
But I soon noticed a problem. If I disconnected the amp to swap/compare with the previous love of my life (a Marantz 2230b) my speakers (Kef 103.2) would 'pop' as if there was some residual charge left in the crossovers.
The 5000x was also not getting along very well with my (active) sub. Running from one of the extra speaker outs on the Sansui, the sub would act strangley - the driver would flutter around when I adjusted the volume on the sub - But then, after 10 mins it would run as normal with no furthur issues.
This popping thing would also happen without the sub in the system.
The amp still sounds wonderful. Would love to have it as my main amp.
Any ideas? I'm not an electro-whizz, but can carry out simple tasks/soldering.
Thanks in advance.
Philip
