First, let me say that I've only recently (last 7 months) gotten into vintage audio and have been acquiring multiple pieces, trying out gear from the 70's mostly (Marantz, Sansui, Pioneer, Yamaha so far).
I've also read much of ThisPost and have ordered much of the gear listed except for a scope because getting into cleaning up and restoring these old pieces is appealing.
The reason for this post (and keeping in mind, I am a complete noob), I bought a Sansui 6060 on fleabay and in spite of it turning on and having having all lamps lit, it makes no sound from any source selection, but does have intermittent pops and cracks regardless of volume knob position (even when on zero). I was afraid to leave my speakers on it for more than 20 seconds or so.
I've downloaded the schematic from hifiengine, and in a few days most of my tools will be here. I thought I would ask where would be a good place to start on troubleshooting this.
