Sansui 6060 questions

Art K.

The Voodoo You Do!
I just bought a 6060 in very clean condition. The FM stereo light is out and the FM is misaligned. I have another 6060 which was delivered in....rustic...condition. The FM light in it works fine, can I use it in the other receiver or would it be better to get another lamp? How difficult are they to either swap or install on a 6060? Lastly, how difficult is it to align the FM, is it something best left to a professional or is it something I can easily do, if so how??? Thanks in advance for any replies.

Art,

You have a nice Sanui receiver in the 6060. I own one and have repaired a few 6060, 7070 receivers and can tell you that to align the FM tuner you need the right equipment and it helps to have the 6060 service manual. You can do it without the 6060 manual be it helps big time. It's not hard but no way can you do it 'by ear'.

PLUS , make sure the FM stereo light is out and the receiver's FM section is OK. Many times the FM light is not going becuae the FM MPX section needs to be rebuilt(cost about 18.00 - 28.00 in parts). Once fixed, the FM stereo light works as it should . Just double check, I have been thru this many times in my repairs.

Double check how?? Keep in mind that besides deoxit cleaning I haven't done the things you folks have so if you could elaborate it would be helpful.

When listening to FM, make sure the sound is in 'stereo', not mono.
If it's in stereo, then the stereo light in out, if you do not hear any stereo seperation between the right and left channel then the FM MPX needs to be rebuilt.

btw.....use a strong high quality FM broadcast to listen to.
