Does the 6060 have an FM muting or noise canceling switch/button? This controls the feature that keeps the tuner silent when between stations. If it's turned off, you will get that noise when tuning stations.

I have a 6060 with a simaler static in the tuner. I thought maybe it can be cleaned. The grill on top seems to let dust fall on it. I wish I knew if de oxit would clean it safley. other than that it works and sounds great.

Do not use deoxit on the tuner fins. It will leave a residue and stations will not come in. If there is a lot of dust and dirt, you can try to brush it off with a fine haired paint brush and suck it up with a vacuum cleaner. Be very careful not to bend the fins. I have used 190 proof grain alcohol in a mist bottle and a brush to clean them. You must be real careful because grain alcohol is very flammable so use it at your own risk. It evaporates real fast and is a great cleaner. It may also need a tuner alignment by a professional.

yessssss ! --cleaning the fins did the trick --you'll love my method: i soaked the corner edge of an envelpoe with rubbing alcohol and wedged in between the fins ! -- i now qualify for score of the day: a sansui 6060 delivered to my home for $36 from ebay (although it was my 2nd attempt at getting a sui -- i bought a 5000a which was a POS) .... thanks for the help !
