Sansui 7070 + CD Player?

I was gifted an older Sansui receiver that works as a radio, but I'd like to connect a CD changer which wasn't a common thing in 1976 when the receiver was made. What else do I need? I tried using the available ports on the back that are labeled for other things but I'm pretty sure I can't? Thanks in advance for any help.

Hey! I guess you are referring to the traditional CD-player when saying CD-changer? right? if so, why not just use Aux or any of the Tape inputs at the back?

I tried them first. There was no sound so I wasn't sure if that's because it was the wrong thing, or if I was using the wrong cables, if they were in the wrong order (it's not red and white and there's no in or out), or if it was the wrong port or what.

Post a photo of your CDP back panel..

Most all tape and aux inputs are line level. Same then as it is now. We just use newer and different audio equipment. All cd players should have line out capabilities in which case this should work on the aux or tape in on your Sansui.

My old Pioneer stuff have no inputs labeled computer input but my playlists seem to play fine through the aux inputs. :D

Color doesn't make a bit of difference on the cables. That's just for dummies like me who don't know right from left. :rflmao:

A cd player won't have any inputs unless it is also a burner. A single pair of RCA jacks is all that is usually required to get sound.

RCA out from cd player to aux inputs on the Sansui.

Make sure your tape monitor is disengaged.;)

For when you figure out what is wrong.
Note that the input sensitivity of the 7070 AUX and Tape inputs is 150mV - and also that many CD players do not have an output level control, thus outputting 2V (= 2000mV). In practice this means that you may find you only need to turn up the volume a very small amount before it gets very loud. (and if you're not careful, you'll blow your ears out). ;)
