Sansui 771 Issues | Hoping for a point in the right direction

Hi everyone,

First post here on AK. I've had a Sansui 771 sitting on the shelf for the last year and haven't really done much with it.

Finally plugged it in and have a loud hum on all channels, across all inputs (aux, phono, FM, AM).

I've read that this can be common and that first course of action would be to check the blue connector on the F1499 board and clean the contacts as needed.

While in there, I've noticed a couple of things.

Can anyone tell me what to make of these attached images? Not much technical expertise at all. If it's some basic resoldering, I'm sure I can figure it out but was really hoping someone here can point me in the right direction in terms of these two issues I see.

Thanks for the input. Gave the main blue connector another douse in contact cleaner and worked it for a few minutes. The hum is gone.

So assuming, it's not arcing but as you said, maybe corrosion? Is the fix for that really just to reinforce the existing solder in the area?
 
Someone has been monkeying around there and they've damaged the traces. I assume there are going to be more issues that will need fixing. You up for skill building and doing some repair work?

Hopefully the great Sansui fixers on this forum will chime in soon.
 
Regarding the first two pictures, they are of the mains voltage selector wiring - if the unit is plugged in these connections become live with full mains - BE CAREFUL. The brown disk shaped thing is a ceramic capacitor, someone has made a ham-fisted job of re-soldering it to the connector pin on the mains selector. It's not pretty and really the insulated lead from the capacitor should go inside the semi-transparent sleeving, but I can see the capacitor wire length isn't long enough for some reason hence the bodge job.

As for the lifted and disappeared track, that's what happens when someone inexperienced tries to de-solder a component, or simply doesn't take enough care doing it. :(
 
Thanks for the comments. Will probably just take it in and get someone who knows what they are doing to fix it. With my luck, I'd electrocute myself. :)
