Hello all,
Been a lurker for a while, but finally made an account in order to make a thread to hopefully figure something out.
I brought home a 771 last week, and both channels worked fine, but we’re scratchy. I used some DeOxit on all the functions, and that cleared things right up. For the next several days, worked just fine. I wanted to get hard to reach dust out, so I bought some canned air the other day. Sprayed that around, closed things up, plugged it back in, and still working just as before. A little while later, I’m upstairs while the receiver is still playing FM, and I hear a big thump. I thought something had dropped off a shelf or something. I realized it must have come from the basement so I went and looked. To my surprise it’s the 771, and the right speaker is crackling like crazy. Some FM still faintly coming through, but at first I thought I blew the speaker. Nope. Threw those speakers on a different receiver, no issue. Threw a different pair of speakers on the 771, same issue - right channel. I go down the Speaker sets - A, B, C. All the same, right channel issue. Must be the receiver. I thought maybe DeOxit may save it. Didn’t have a lot of hope, but figured it was worth a try. Nope. Same.
TLDR: Right channel issues on 771 an hour or so after using canned air on it. FM still comes through, but thumping, scratching noises, etc. all speaker sets A, B, C.
I plan to get this to my tech when I can, but I wanted to get a thread going to get the opinions of those more experienced with vintage Sansui than I.
i appreciate all of your input.
