Sansui 8080 hum

Hello,

I recently acquired a Sansui 8080 thats actually in pretty good shape. Its just the plain 8080 not the DB model. Im getting a slight hum when I turn it on in the speakers, similar to what you would experience or hear with a turntable ground undone. I changed out the power supply caps from 6800 to 10k uf hoping that would help but its still there. Whats the next area I need to look at? It almost sounds like there is a loose ground connection somewhere but tapping the case doesnt change or eliminate the hum. Anyone else had this issue? Thanks Mark

Does it go away with the volume turned down all the way? If you unplug the preamp out - poweramp in jumpers? (Power off when you do this.) Both channels or just one?

Its still there with the volume down all the way both channels. I will test it with the jumpers tonight when I get home from work. Thanks a lot!! Mark

When I remove the jumpers nothing at all in the left channel, slight hum in right but way reduced. Mark

It sounds like bad caps in the power supply for the preamp stage. I would re-cap the entire power supply.
