Sansui 8080 Value

I've found a Sansui 8080 that needs work. He says that it powers up but won't come out of protection. I can't tell about the face but the case has been painted silver.

How much would this be worth? I haven't ever replaced any caps but might be willing to try.

Kinda like buying a car that the engine doesn't run. Might be a bad coil wire, might be spun bearings and a seized crankshaft.

I paid $65 for my 8080DB that isn't real pretty but works fine.

I have an 8080 local that the gentleman wants $200 for. In good shape with a nice case, but needs pots cleaned. So, less than that. Like bentpencil said, could be anything. I would try to buy it for a comfortable "parts or repair" price, for me probably 50-60 bucks if you can do things yourself, less if you have to have it repaired by a professional.

I sold one that the estimate was $250+ to repair.

Could be the driver board fuse resistors. Easy fix.

Could be worse. If you can repair it yourself, $100 would be fair. You can paint the case black.

If you can't repair it yourself, pass.

I think I'll pass. He wants $95.00 for it and I'd have to drive about an hour to get it.
