well i got my sansui 8080db back up and runing for about 30 minute then you here a pot threw the speakers then it goes into protection then 2 minutes later it comes out of protection and plays fine for a mintue then you here a pop again and it goes into protection

I've had that on some of my gear in times past. I think you have an electrolytic capacitor going bad in there some place. I'd guess in the power supply area, but I could be wrong. It's shorting out internally and could concievably blow up.

You may need a tech to check it out for you, or if you have a scope you could track it down. But you also take the risk of it blowing up in your face. I'd definitely get it taken care of real soon.
