I have been trying to upgrade from a Pioneer SX-727 to get improved bass from my Klipsch Forte I's.
I've tried a Harman Kardon 730 and a Luxman R-115, but so far I keep coming back to the SX-727 for the clean, warm sound and solid phono section.
I have a lead on a Sansui 881 for $650 that is clean and operating to spec but has not been refurbished. I've read good things about this receiver but am wondering if I should expect any real improvement over the SX-727? It's a bit more than I was looking to spend on a non-refurbished unit.
I'm inclined to stay with Pioneer since I like the SX-727... but the SX-850, SX-1010, or SX-1050 are expensive and hard to come by. Same seems to go with the Sansui Eights, x0x0's, or g-series.
Ideally trying to stick with receivers that have good phono sections. Thanks for any input!
