Sansui 881 worth the $75

Is the 881 worth $75. I've done my research; however, there is no possible way for me to test it before purchasing it. It has decent reviews but I would appreciate a reply from a more seasoned aficionado

Thanks guys :thmbsp: :music:

These are really underrated for a Unit with 63 Watts X 2! Too bad you can't test it out but still:)

Would also agree that price is good... for a working unit. A hard call with no chance to test it, for sure. You will just have to go with your gut on what is being relayed to you.

agree with everything already said. While it may not have the stigma of earlier models, it is a fine receiver. I'd pick it up in a heartbeat.

I had one for a few years and it was my main driver upstairs. They rock! You will love it. :thmbsp:

It is worth it dead or alive.
I buy defective amps sometimes, and always assumed untested or no way to test stuff is definately faulty. I never was wrong, yet, it always appeared faulty and usually that faulty "they gave up" repairing it.

If I would see this one in a good condition for its looks. for this price in Holland, I would snap it up right away because Sansui is popular with the people able to repair AND collect, i have the impression most old Sansui collectors are the techs themselves.

If you are not a tech, the price you pay in the end is unknown if it is defective....

I bought one for $60 in nice physical condition but with a bad hum. I researched that problem and found that it's usually a bad ground connection somewhere. I found and fixed a slightly corroded ground lug on a PCB and the hum went away. It's a great sounding receiver. I'd buy that in a heartbeat for $75.

A short piece of wire for an FM antenna and a pair of headphones is all you need, plus AC power of course. I try not to buy broken stuff if at all possible. I used to sell those when they were new.
