Sansui 8900ZDB Power Supply

Greetings, I have just acquired a Sansui 8900ZDB real cheap and now I know why, it does not have a power supply! ARGH. Anyone know where I can acquire a power supply for this beast? I checked the schematic and the power supplies for the 9900, 8900 and 7900 are different. The 9900 has 56v on a rail vs 51v on the 8900 and the 7900 is not even close. Any help would be highly appreciated!

Unfortunately, you will probably have to keep an eye out for a parts unit. These are not rare, but on the other hand you don't see a lot of them show up. You might consider buying a good one and keeping the one you have for a parts unit. These don't run cheap, but at the same time they do not get the high prices the G-xxxx models get.

I have one of these and, though not liked by the majority, it certainly has a lot of balls. I need knobs for mine, but have not found one cheap enough for that kind of parting out. Either way you go with this, I think you will be surprised by its sound quality, but the auto volume thing is a bit hinky. The flashy LEDs for power meters are fun. Enjoy your new toy when you get it together. :thmbsp:
 
You might consider building an external power supply. Parts will be a great deal easier to find, and outboard supplies can have perfomance advantages. In addition, you don't necessarily have to burn any bridges -- just use existing holes to make the connections, and the modification can be 100% reversible.
 
Thanks for the information. I've scoured CL's and there are some out there. One in DC, but too far away for me. There is a electronics shop about 40 miles from me so I think I will visit them this weekend. X my fingers as they have racks of older stuff..

Can you get the part number off of the transformer for me? I would hope it is the same number as listed in the schematic. I'm at work and unable to list the part number from the schematic.

Question,

Can you provide me the part number from the power transformer on your unit? It may help me locate one just alittler easier. The schematic shows a number starting with a 100xxx2001?

FYI,

Just saw one on the bay, seems that this baby is worth a lot more than one would think. According to the information and the photos everything seems to work 100%. I hope they are pleased with it as the price went over $200.00.:thmbsp:
