Sansui 9010 - volume/balance

Hi,
This lovely souding unit (the european version of 881) after a cleaning and partial recap gives mr often a slight imbalance towards left. Slightly means 55-45 or something.
I think i hear this mostly or maybe only when the volume is lower , less than 9 oclock position. The thing is that this receiver has a lot of power and gain ! and after 9 o clock is quite loud.
Volume knobs are quite clean and silent. Every now and then i can hear a crackling noise for them. I saw in other similar issues that this is commom for the 881/9010.
Is there a complete fix possible or i must live with that?
Thanxx

It's not normal but may be as simple to fix as cleaning the controls. Also, during this era, Sansui didn't market any "European" specific models. All distributors had access to both trim variants. You can see this with the power cord. If it were truly destine to the European market, it would have a European power cord.

That said, the 9010 is fairly rare. Please post the serial number for the database.

Hi
Till now i think i can adjust balance with some twists at the volume control. I just ordered deoxit so i will try too this when i get it. Audio muting button may be also be a treamtent - by pressing it cuts 20db so i can turn the volume control much further.

And yes you are right ,the power cord i think its the american one and now i used it with an adaptor.the technician said its designed for both 110v and 220v
Again, a lovely sweet sounding unit with more power than expected.

Almost all of the "export" models made by Sansui have multi voltage capability. It was a standard feature. The controls behind almost all of the switches and knobs on the face of the receiver can contribute to the imbalance you are describing. They all need to be cleaned. The cleaner must be sprayed INSIDE each of the controls. Doing so takes some disassembly to get access.

Thanks for posting the serial number. Your 9010 was manufactured on Line 82 in November of 1974. It was the 832 unit manufactured on that line that month.

Hi
Another thing i start to notice is that at the front metal cover there is a light static electricity. It's not that it hits you, its like a soft magnetism / friction. Is it this normal?

Yes that what an expert suggested. He confirmed that it wont affect the SQ / voicing.

No, I don't mention it for an SQ reason, but for a your safety reason, as I have no idea of the domestic electrical safety standards in Greece, or if your house wiring has been tested and certified to that standard. Thus, I am recommending leaving it alone.

If you're asking the questions, I have to assume you've never done it before, if you are determined - please get your 'expert' to do it. ;)

All good no static at all. Tech added a chord extension to ground the unit. So whenever i want i can simply remove it and have it original.
He confirmed the slight imbalance with volume knob less than 9 clock. had it cleaned again and no noises at all now. He said it is a knob issue and suggested that at low levels i can use the balance control ( at 55-45 position) or the audio muting button that allows the volume knob to go higher

Hi , can someone suggest a replacement volume pontetiometre for the 9010? Tech didnt manage to fix the balance problem , it is coming from the potentiometre.
