The power switch on my 9090 is going out. I have to push it numerous time before it will stick on. Same thing turning off. Usually, I can make it turn off by tugging slightly on the switch to "unclick".

It seems like it something mechanical (as opposed to electrical). I saw this replacement on fleabay but not confident it will fit/work https://www.ebay.com/itm/112731770045

Other than possibly burning the lamps out prematurely, is there any problem with simply leaving the unit turned on permanently?

The switch more likely then not will workout just fine. The seller has a 100% feedback. The power switch is a common repair as these units age out. Once the problem starts happening it only will get worse.
Yes you could use a power strip with a on/off switch if choosing to forgo replacement. I would not leave it on rather have a way to turn off.
Replacing the worn switch will be the best choice and the part shown the easiest option.

I have his switch as a spare, appears to be high quality.
All of his kits I purchased have been excellent.
 
I am with Qerets on using a switchable power strip. I solved a bad power switch on a receiver with a switchable power strip and also save all the power switches on the TT, CD, RTR, turner and cassette players at the same time. All gear has the power switches on and the switchable power strip switch takes the ware and tear. If you do not want to operate any of the auxiliaries, just switch them off without the power strip on. Been doing this for over twenty years on several system with no issues of failures.
You get a freebee with a power strip on all audio gear. You can unplug a whole system with by removing the plug of the power strip from the wall and get 100 % safety from lighting strikes.
My first receiver was damaged by a lighting strike in the 1970s, fortunately it was under warrantee.
