Hi there, first of all, thank you for all you do. This forum is incredible. I'm a long time lurker first time poster. I recently bought a Sansui 9090. It worked fine for a bit but then I lost a channel. I took it to a guy and he replaced something which I think was the power transformer. I live in Vietnam and I don't speak the language very well and there are very limited options for me to take a machine like this. Hence the reason I am not sure exactly what was 'fixed' but I gathered from our 'discussion' that it was the power unit. Again it worked ok briefly. Then I started to lose a channel again. This time not entirely but 95%. I read a lot on these forums and looked at a bunch of videos. I thought I would start by opening it up and trying to clean a few things with Deoxit which I just did. Unfortunately I still have the same problem after putting it all back together.
When I flick to mono I get full volume in both channels but only one channel in stereo. All of the A, B and C speaker connection produce the same problem and the same as well whether I play through tape or aux input. I don't get any scratchy pots and everything seems to function physically with the various knobs, switches and dials.
Doing some reading on here I thought it might also be some issue with the relay which seems to come up a few times. Trouble is I'm an amateur at best and I am not sure where the relay is exactly nor what to do if I locate it short of replacing it which I am likely not capable of doing myself. I *think* I located the relay under the tuner section (clear plastic box). The clear box I am looking at says "Tairo rabk-4B 24v" on top of it which doesn't seem to correspond to a part I can readily identify as a Sansui part. Perhaps it's not the relay I am looking at or perhaps it's a replacement part already, I don't know.
Of course I am extremely reluctant to dig about in this beauty but I have very limited options in terms of trying to get it properly serviced. There are a lot of people here who would gladly take it to bits but with no real knowledge or consequences if it all goes pear shaped. If I knew I had to replace the relay or knew I had to open the plastic case and clean it or something then i'd give it a go but as it stands I don't want to mess with it further.
Any guidance or suggestions would be extremely welcome. Thank you very much!
