Sansui 9090DB—amp section works, no sound though

Did the wipers on each wafer get a shiny silver appearance after the ultrasonic?
They changed from black to a dull silver. Almost like an etched appearance. I have done several switches this way, this one has been the the only problem. I use alconox and distilled water in the cleaner.

I rebuilt the dolby board on mine, was sure to solder in pass through pins, replaced all caps and cleaned the dolby switch. 2 years later, still had problems, and jiggling the switch would temporarily help. Last year I did the by-pass. No more problems or any regrets. Debatable if this effects resale, but if the buyer has to jiggle the switch, that would effect resale too.
Thanks for that input. I'm gonna go the bypass route. I got a good deal on this unit & after cleaning it up it's cosmetically excellent, a keeper. I'd hate to go through all the work for functions I personally won't use & then possibly have to tear into the unit again down the road like you had to......&, down the road, one could argue it would help resale value as a buyer wouldn't have to worry about the problem & basically gets a great working 9090. Maybe a purist wouldn't like it, but they're not the only buyers.
