Sansui 9090db Dolby Switch Shaft

Has anyone had the shaft on the Dolby Switch on a 9090db slide out of the knob? Rebuilding like my 6th 9090db and I lost signal in board and just realized the shaft had come out of the base of the knob, and, most unfortunate out of the first disk of the actual switch. So there is a 50/50 chance that I slide shaft back into the last disc wrong, then another 50/50 chance that the shaft goes into the knob backwards. I am going to have to take another 9090db apart so that I can see how the switch is assembled. Luckily I have one on deck for another rebuild. Just wondering if anyone has seen this problem?

I've seen that issue before. In fact, I think I have one here with that same issue.

I have had that on the rotary function selector on G9000/ QRX8001/9001.
I think the deoxit and other cleaning products dissolve the glue that holds those shafts in, I normally just put a little dab of Three-Bond adhesive on the shaft to stop it sliding out...
If you look at the wafter for long enough, you can figure out which way around it goes...

I've got this issue occuring on a 9090DB - did you apply the Three-Bond adhesive where the shaft meets the coupler?

Thanks - I've been wrestling some strange issues on this unit before realizing the Dolby switch was not physically changing position

I solder a small strip of copper across the back of the switch, to hold the shaft forward into the front shaft of the switch.
