Have you noticed the prices on Sansui 9090db receivers are going higher on ebay. Last year you could buy a working worn out one for under $200.Now for $200. they are not even working. And the so called refurbished ones some that have only been cleaned inside and rub some oil on the case put a few blubs in clean the pots are going for $300. to $600.. Anybody care to coment on this.I have made some of my Sansui 9090db walnut cases they will be in the classified section soon.tomefs

Yeah, AK has a couple of "real Refurbed" 9090's for sale that make all the others seem like big steaming piles of Ebay **** !

Yeah? I saw an 8080 in the classies, but the guy never answered me. His perogative, I suppose. But I'm interested...I'm shopping for one.

Look in the vendor classifieds for the ones referred to here.

Rising prices have been happening for almost all the well-known receivers such as the Sansui 9090db, Pioneer sx-1980, Pioneer sx-1250, Kenwood kr-9600, sansui g-9000, etc. Even the lesser ones such as Sansui 7070s. If there's a receiver on your wish list and you've got the money, I recommend buying it now cause the law of supply and demand says that with supply limited and rising demand, price is bound to rise. Its getting harder to find top-notch gear at garage and estate sales anymore since the advent of ebay, craigs list, and the vintage collecting craze. What was that Pogo use to say - I have seen the enemy and they are us - we've also done such a good job of praising the virtures of vintage.

Matter of preference. The 9090db has a beefier power supply and a full complementary output stage. The 9090 has a quasi-complementary output stage, but also doesn't have the Dolby switch in the signal path.

6 'O one, half-dozen 'O the other.

the 9090's are nice recievers and they seem to cost about
the same as the g series. I have owned both, but after getting
my g 901 db = g 9000 db. i found no comparison on sound. spend
the money on a g series.
