Sansui 9090DB - replacing source indicator lights

Hello!

Sorry for a silly question - I almost feel embarrassed asking it. I am interested in upgrading the lights on my Sansui 9090DB but I am not sure how to approach replacing the source indicator lights. It appears that the F-2627 board is mounted to the white plastic dial lights housing and it is not clear how to separate them. The source indicator light leads are not soldered to the F-2627 board on the outside of this assembly (how it is done on Sansui 9090) but instead to the inside part of the board that is not easily accessible. See the photo - the lamp wires lead through the tiny opening between the board and the white housing inside of the assembly. I have never seen anything like this. Is it another through-hole board similar to the dolby board? I would much rather had these wires soldered to the pads outside of the F-2627 board.

What is the best way to replace these lamps? I would like my work to not only result in perfectly working lights but also to look good...

Thank you!

I checked my 9090DB and the OEM wiring is as your board is. If you want to keep it OEM. The PCB is mounted to the bracket/housing by the backlight lamps clips. There are four lamps and there is a trace for the positive trace and negative trace. The solder pads are directly opposite of each other. The first pair are directly below the first red arrow on the left of you photo. De-solder all 4 pair [eight pads] from the respective traces [the lamps are in parallel] and the board will come off the housing. You can leave it in the OEM configuration or relocate to the foil side per the 9090 configuration. I would convert it as the OEM way appears to be a manufacturer mod that makes construction faster, easier, cheaper, ???. If you want to have an factory configuration you can do it. Whatever the case OEM works but looks a little different. Take pictures/make drawings.

Or, do like someone else did replacing a couple of them. I can see that they cut the wire and spliced in the new lamp. It can be mad to look nice with heat shrink tube.

@aldena007, yes, I agree with you - it's the clips that are holding the board. I think I will take a longer route and re-do everything to how it's done on the 9090. I just don't like the solution they chose for the DB version - weird to have the wires pinched between the board and the plastic housing...

Thank you for your responses!
