Good Morning AK! I am a new member to the Forum yet have lurked for help for over a year and love the site!
After much excitement getting a Sansui 9090db for my Feb birthday this year, and enjoying it the past 45-50 days, it has stopped.
The previous owner said he replaced the Power Supply ten years ago, and everything has worked great. I used Deoxit on the pots and it has sounded awesome. The Dolby didn't work until the pots were cleaned out and then it has worked as well.
I was playing new records from Sundays record show and when switching out to a new LP and the music wouldn't play. I had changed nothing, the lights are on and the power button is green. There was also a melting plastic, chemical smell for a bit as well, that seemed to generate from the front of the receiver, middle to the right. When this was happening I switched to the FM tuner, it played, then when I switch back from AUX, none of it worked again. I have been so bummed for the last couple of days. None of my other Vintage amps/receivers sound the same, sad.
Well, I have spent the last 2 nights searching the forum and reading past posts, and I am sure the repair is probably more then I could handle, I have only sprayed out Pots.
I have read the posts about suggestions of who can repair that are really trusted and talented Techs for repair, yet they are quite old post and some say the best people are backlogged for a year.
So please any suggestions on who is the best, trusted audiophile techs out there, to have my 9090 brought back to life. I know there are the Ebay choices, just worried about who is the best and most trusted to do it right, and relatively reasonable.
I am in the Springfield, Mo area but could ship or travel, yet hoping for someone within a weekend drive or so. Any type of suggestions are welcome and thanks for taking your time.
