Hello
I recently purchased a Sansui AU-999 & TU-999. I would like to hook up 2 pair (4) SP2500 and wondering about the connections with A B C etc. If anyone can guide me through connecting up a SR-717 to this as well, would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all in advance

PS. Would love to see pics of your 999 setup

Connect one pair of speakers to the "A" speaker terminals and the other pair of speakers to the "B" speaker terminals. Plug the SR-717 into the "Phono" RCA jacks on the back of the AU-999. Plug the TU-999 into the "Tuner" jacks and you are good to go.

Here's my AU/TU999 setup, its in my bedroom, late night listening, and also early morning listening.....Perfect, its driving a pair of JBL4410A speakers...
The tape deck is an Akai GX-46D, its actually a surprisingly good deck.IMG_9624.JPGIMG_9674.JPG

My initial thoughts? It’s not very loud. Like just above a normal talking voice, but I imagined it to be a bit louder. All the buttons, lights an switches seem to work well, speakers are putting out sound, just not much volume. As others have described, the SP-2500 don’t have much bass. They do have some years on them and may need restoring, so I may start there, but wanted to give an update.
This setup is very temporary, (Just trying to hear it work) so don’t scold me for my beautiful, custom stereo rack.

I believe I may have found part of the problem with the ‘low volume’. So when I was getting ready to open it up for some pics, I put my hand near the back of the TU-999 and WOW! It got SUPER LOUD!! Just putting my hand near (not even touching) FM ‘A’ it illuminated the FM Stereo lamp on front and it’s what I would now call normal or consistent with the volume selected. I can’t even turn it up past the 12:00 position without bothering the neighbors. My guess is a loose connection inside or ....? Maybe it needs a ground? I am totally unfamiliar with this unit an don’t have a service or owners manual. (Hunting one down).
In the pic it’s the top, outboard FM ‘A‘ that once touched, brings in FM stereo and normal volume.

I snapped a few pics of the inside while I had the top and bottom covers off. I saw nothing obviously loose in that area.

Ah, I assumed you'd had an antenna hooked up.....You must have an antenna even if its a simple 300Ω dipole. You wont pick up jack doo daa without one...

Jack Doo Dah Never heard that one:D. The stations antenna must be around the corner as the signal strength is dead on. Oooops! Yeah hook up a dipole. HaHa I love when it’s something simple!
When tuning in the stations there’s like a slight binding or tightening, then ‘Clunk’ then it’s easy to turn the station again. This happens in the middle of the dial, not at the ends of the dial. The noise appears to be coming from the area marked below, not sure exactly sure what’s it’s called. The pulleys all seem to be free, the tuning cord isn’t catching on anything, nor looks worn. Has anyone experienced this? CB64C64C-379B-444B-8152-7B2637CEF244.jpeg
