I recently found a beautiful pair of vintage NOS Sansui A-603 Pickup/Mic Transformers. I have a Sansui AU-111G Vintage made in 2001. It calls for a A-603S TF. With 0 info globally I have to ask here if they might be compatible? Here is the face diagrams. I wanna try my Denon DL-110 (MC) on my SR-929. Thanks. Rick

Hope this finds you well! I have A-603's (not A-603S) in my AU-111, find it hard to believe they wouldn't be compatible in your AU-11G. All I found on the web was an ebay auction which stated "A-603S are the same like A-603".

craggd. Thanks. I was looking for factory documentation but found nothing. I wanna be a 100% sure before I load them. The A-603 was used in the mid 60's and the A-603S was used in the 1999 and 2001 reissue limited production AU-111Vintage and AU-111G versions.

The pair of A-603, I used on the AU-111 was transferred across to the AU-111G without any issues. So the reverse may be true for A-603S to A-603. Two pennies worth.

_mano You came to mind as did captrockstar having one of the re issue AU-111's. Cant remember who else has one off hand. So what # of the 100 do you have? I believe mine is #6

Hi Folks.

Just a quick question if I may. Once the A-603s are installed in the 111-G can you choose between cartridge types or are you committed to run only MCs? Thanks.

On the AU-111G, there is only 1 Phono Selector Position, so once A-603's installed, its MC only.
On the Original 1960's AU-111, 2 Phono inputs. Phono1 becomes MC once A-603's installed. Phono-2 remain MM.

Just curious, how different are the 603's (either flavor) from the A604's as spec'ed for the 1000A? Never seen a pair of 604's in the wild........

Committed on MC paired to a Denon DL-304, works well for me. Had a Audio Technica AT15Sa MM and moved across to DL-304 and not looked back.

Thank you _mano. It is interesting to see where these wound up. Your #22 is in the UK, johhny_fever’s #6 presumably is in Illinois in the mid-west US. I think I have #1 and am in the eastern US near Ithaca, NY.
Cheers.

According to the @LBPete's Database. There are 5/100 of the units here, interesting.

601060037 June, 2001
601060001 June, 2001
601040022 April, 2001
601040006 April, 2001
601040001 April, 2001

^ OT, but these must have been some of the very last components built by "real" Sansui prior to shutting down, given the build dates into June. It has been my understanding 2001 was the end of the line, and when operations were wound down. An interesting snapshot of how they ended on the same high note of building the AU-111 (reissue), that really put them on the map in 1965. Which I suppose was the intent.

mjs1 Is your unit the Vintage or G Vintage model?. The G Vintage has gold knobs and feet along with a gold line on the faceplate. I see 2 registered #1 units above.

You are right on the build quality on these units.

Mine is the 601040001. It came in its original box and was listed as a Vintage but, much to my surprise, when I unpacked it found it to be a G with gold knobs and feet. It is mint and likely has the original tubes.
