I have a Sansui A-9 amplifier that I am told needs $250 in repairs... is it worth it or should I use that towards a new system ?

Thank You,

I can tell you that if it were ME, I would put that toward a different amp- wouldn't even think twice about it. An AU-517 would have similar power, and they usually go for quite a bit less. You could use the remainder to have a good technician go through it, set the bias and offset and clean it. Or an AU-D9. There are several options, I'm sure others will chime in.

If you are going to shop on ePay, I'd wait until after Christmas, the word from veterans here it that prices peak around now. Having said that, there have been some good "Buy It Now" prices lately, but you have to pounce before they're gone...

My $.02.

thanks... any place I can find out how much the A-9 amplifier, T-9 receiver and the Sansui/Classique S1500 speakers originaly cost and what they are worth ?

I’m rebuilding an AU-D9 now. Ready for reassemble. Complete frame off. Used the best quality silicon devices on replacement and used the best electrolytic where needed. So much into it. I even found the terminal crimps for the wires that pop into holes on the board and get soldered. Found an amazing crimper kit for them as well. I could go on. Probably put more money into it than it’s worth but I don’t care. Gotta keep these treasures alive and well

Sansui A-9 and Sansui AU-D9 are completely different integrade Amplifiers.
