For the last four year I have fallen in love with Sansui. First came Au 317, than 11000A, 9500,717 and finally 2000x.
As for speakers: Jpw p1, acoustic research 17, jbl l 96 and last but not the least grunding professional 850 a
I may not discover hot water and I know that there are far more exotic equipment out there but guys if you have some pocket change grab Grundig 850 a prof speakers... They do have fake veneer and some silly plastic ring on woofer driver, my first tought was that these are typical boombox speakers, good when you are 17 and drunk... when you open them you will quickly realise that it is one mighty fine and seriously constructed speaker.
Long story short, picked them up from service ( just minor improvments, new terminals...) hooked the up with 2000x...MINDBLOWN. The clarity, warmth, reality, bass, separation, details, vocals, stage... the list is long...picking up my thongue whole day from the floor.
Try those germans, they are very similiar to Ar 17, perhaps a shade more forward but little sansui is just match made in heaven for those Grundigs. Also cold as ice driving them 10 o clock ( Grundigs are 4 ohm ).
Learned a lot from audiokarma reading, reviews, experiences from other people just wanted to give you Sui lovers something back, at least my personal experience... and maybe to brag a little bit.
Cheers to ya all, stay safe and enjoy the music!
Sorry for english, not mother thongue.
