Sansui AU-α607MRX

I have already said several times to myself that my quest for Sansui amp is over.I found a remarkable examples, spent a lot of money and time...etc,etc.
The first time was when I got an excelent AU-919,then I found minty TU-9900/AU11000A,...and when I got AU-X1111mos vintage I really thought that's it,done, the search is over.

But not so... infection has already become an incurable :D (and thank God for a very tolerant wife too)

Believe it or not it has been two months since I bought this amplifier from a Croatian Sansui fan.
Today I found some time to unpack it from the box .
This amplifier was purchased two years ago as NOS by AK member sanmar. In fact, he bought two or three such amplifiers. He kept one and the rest left to the other Sansui fans.
One of them was so polite to inform me about the potential sale ...temptation lasted only for a sec

Wow... I really like your taste in Sansui amps. I've been wondering about the newer alpha series lately... I assume it just totally blows the AU-11000A out of the water?

From what I have heard, they are basically a very good example of what today's high end sounds like, which is indeed very, very good. They are so damn hard to search for though because the name is so hodge-podged together with the alpha symbol and whatnot that everybody calls it something different.

Very nice.

More people should realize that Sansui still made great gear throught the 90's.

Thanks for sharing.

You're right Rob :thmbsp:.
Sansui made a lot of exceptional amplifiers those years, but most of them were made for Japan market only :tears:

Very Fine!!

Your a lucky guy.

1. Please tell us how your AU-α607MRX sounds.

2. Please tell us how your AU-X1111 Mos Vintage sounds with the MOSFETs.

3. Please compare the AU-a607MRX and AU-X1111 sound differences.

The alphas are really fine amps!! And well worth the cost.

Really fine AU-a607MRX! New. Super Fine!! :thmbsp:

And a beautiful set-up in your console!!

^ I wouldn't mind hearing this either.

I think a lot of people think comparisons are stupid/too subjective but I like reading them a lot. They are very helpful for determining the sound characteristics of different amps.

Thank you bluesky...some luck is definitely necessary, but persistence is equally important

1.I will...give me a few days

2.with MOSFETs amp sounds gorgeous, and without them there is no sound at all :lmao:

I am not acquainted with the sound description , but here are some guidelines:

- sound stage is huge,I mean all three dimensions equally (better than any amp I have (had))

- there is no lack of power at any time-speakers control is top-notch

- sound has a slightly warmer character (mosvintage supposed to be SS copy of AU-111) like tube amp, but no graininess at all

Jazz and classical music fits him best (string instruments particulary; AK member eradoncic once said that one of the constructors-engineers has been playing cello)

All in all, royal sound is good term

3.It will wait a while cause I have a lot of other work to do
