The 210 is the one i listen to most..i could happily keep just the 210.
It does everything right and sounds the most natural of all my amps..i own many not just my Sansui's

I have looked for information about the 210 and the minimum impedance is 8ohm, so I discard it because my Celestion A1 are 4ohm

I revive my own thread. Since then I have had changes in my equipment, I bought a Pioneer HPM-40 and sold the AU-101. Now that I have 8 ohm speakers, I'm considering buying the Sansui 210, although these days I've read very well about the 221 and 350.
Argggg, which one do I buy for the HPM-40????

The 350 (which is the smaller sibling of the 800) is an all discrete output stage. The 221 uses Sanken brick style output devices. While the 221 apparently sounds great based on numerous posts made here by others, I'd personally give the nod to a model with more readily available parts, should the need for repairs arise. That said, I don't want to create a perception that I'm knocking the 221.
It all depends what you want i.e is the radio req'd.
I can vouch for the 210 and 331 being great little receivers and also the au-101 being a great amp.
The au-101 is more audiophile the receivers being more musical.
Your speakers will do them all justice up to a point them being 91db sensitivity.
I think you'll derive great pleasure from 'Super charging' a 101 an easy amp to mod plus there's not much to go wrong with the au-101 by comparison.

I didn't know about the difficulty of those 221 pieces, so I would discard it from the list.
Currently I have a Luxman L-4 (amplifier) and the Pioneer SX-737 (receiver)...I could say I'm done...but I'd like to try a low watts Sansui receiver to compare with the Pioneer...the loser would walk out the door.
Regarding the AU-101, which I sold last week, I compared it with the Luxman and Pioneer and the sound varies very little between them when played through the HPM-40 (with the Celestion A1 if I noticed more differences), so i decided to sell the sansui since i only want to have one amp and one receiver, and the luxman is a bit more different of the group.

I can vouch for the 210 being a very “listenable” receiver,(my fave). Keep in mind it is “only” 10 meager watts. Although those 10 watts are sweet, you will need efficient speakers, a small room, or both. It is a very simple design, perhaps that accounts for some of the sonic bliss.
I have the AU505, the bigger sibling to the AU101, whilst it too sounds good, there is something about the 210 that the 505 just doesn’t have. I have transitioned to tubes, and the 210 is extremely close to that sound, not quite, but the closest thing I’ve heard.

Hi guys... I left this thread hanging. I stopped looking for a low wattage Sansui receiver.
In these months I have acquired a Philips 22RH580 that I am delighted with, it is my favorite now! Only 5 watts of pure music! Although I keep looking sideways for the Sansui 210 while enjoying the Philips. Greetings!

Thanks for updating us - interesting to hear how these things evolve. The layout of that Phillips is so 1970! I hope you're wearing polyester flares when listening to it...

Seems like you changed your loudspeakers in this journey, because I think you mentioned your 4-ohm Celestion A-1 speakers were a constraint, early in the thread. What speakers are you running now?
(And at risk of being in the wrong forum, I have to admit a sneaking liking for the looks of the Pioneer SX-737 receiver... Do you still have that, and how does it compare?)

I still have the SX-737, which has very good synergy with the HPM, also the Luxman L4 (perhaps the one with the most detailed sound) and the Philips 22RH580, which is a little gem, it has the warmest sound of all that I have, without losing detail. Perhaps it does not have as many basses as the Pioneer or the Luxman (this is the one with the most basses, which has a recap, the other two are of origin).
I also recently bought the Philips 22GH922, which is even older than the 580.
As long as I keep the SX-737 I'm not going to look for the Philips radio... but if one day I sell the 737 I'm sure I'll start looking for the radio because I really like the look next to the amplifier, especially placed in line next to the other.
But still I'm still looking for the Sansui 210!

Hello again, new changes in my pair of speakers, I sold the HPM-40 and now I have some Polk Monitor 10B (6 ohm). I'm almost decided to look for a Sansui 210 but in Hifiengine I read that it supports a minimum of 8ohm speakers, but other websites mention the power it has at 4ohm. Those of you who have the 210, can you tell me about the minimum impedance of the Sansui 210? Thank you!
