Sansui AU 11000 as Preamp

Dear Friends and Forum Members,

First of all thanks on the advise for my Sansui BA/ CA 3000 set. It sounds wonderful and I really like the way it handles the Mid range and soundstage.

When the BA 3000 was being recapped, I used the CA 3000 to send the signal to my Denon PMA S10iii (100watt x 2) integrated amp.

I always found the denon too flat and was always tweaking bass and the treble controls to get the sound to my liking. However, with the Sansui, I never had the problem.

I have an option on a Sansui AU 11000 and plan to use it as a preamp for the Denon or a Musical fidelity C5R (250watt x 2) amplifier.

Is the Sansui AU 11000 comparable to the CA 3000 in sound quality / signature?

And the Denon is a special edition amp...will it benefit from upgrading of the parts in the preamp section?

Thanks in advance for the replies.

Sound is personal and varies because of the very nature of the equipment but......... for what my personal opinion is worth both have the Sansui sound, the 1100 perhaps a little more so.

That's a waste of the 11000, it should be used in full. The pre amp in it is VERY noisy and requires a super thorough restoration to function properly. I am talking all new transistors, diodes and capacitors in both pre amp and PSU. Preferably resistors too. You should also physically disassemble all the switches and wipe off all the blackness from the contact surfaces. Only after all this work will the 11000 have a usable pre-amp.
