Sansui AU 111 what have I here?

So I already have an AU111. But on a holiday in Thailand came across this and couldn’t pass it up. An early build first generation with the offset pre amp valves. Price was right but it had some interesting mods. Cheek plates not correct colour and didn’t look factory made. Top cover round vent holes not square. Face plate faded and every knob glued on. But turn it on and play it through a set of JBL sovereigns and it was heaven. So it came home back to Australia and start a strip down. Very clean internally way better than my August68 build model. Few mods and changes underneath but that’s above my pay grade. Off to the tech next week for a good go over.

Very nice find, indeed. Do my eyes deceive me, or is the lettering on the Sansui logo badge gold? Have not seen that before (if stock, and not "recolored") as all I've ever seen were silver, like the knob faces.

Yes it’s gold and it’s was epoxied on. As was the face plate surrounding frame. It’s strange someone put a lot of work into it. But lack the skills to make it factory grade. I would love to know the build date but the SN sticker is long home.
