Sansui AU-919 connecting a tape deck - no sound

So my brother left me with a Sansui AU-919 and realistic turntable that I set up for mom to listen to records. No problems setting that up and listening to the great sound! He also had a Pioneer tape deck and I tried to set that up (seems easy enough) but I cant get any sound. What am I doing wrong? I assume i have the connections correct and it just has to be the front switches for me to get sound out properly. Not worried about recording anything - just playing tapes.

Any suggestions or troubleshooting advice?

Tape Play button and Copy knob should be like pic. Assuming that the tape player is hooked up to Tape 1.

Okay thank you - will try that I think button was on source - i guess otherwise she wont be listening to cassettes.

Or you can treat the tape deck like a regular source and plug the outputs into the aux input.

Also the features and selectors on the AU-717 are quite similar to the AU-919

Always an option - think I tried that as well but also going to find other rca's to try with as somethings going on.
